About these terms

These terms apply to your use of Museum Vendors (this website). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

What the site does

Museums post requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotes (RFQs). Vendors browse them, respond, and keep a directory profile. Responses and messages are sent through the site.

We are a venue, not a party to any project. We don't choose vendors, negotiate, or sign contracts for anyone. Any contract is between the museum and the vendor.

Accounts

Accounts are free and use an email link. There is no password. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can open the link can sign in as you, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.

You must be at least 18 and have the authority to act for the museum or company you represent.

Listings and review

A person reviews every listing before it is published. We may approve it, ask for changes, or decline it, and we give a reason when we do.

Review is not verification. We don't check that a listing is accurate or that it satisfies a museum's own purchasing rules. Posting here does not meet any public-bid or notice requirement. Check your own policies.

What may be posted is set out in the Posting policy.

Responses and messages

Vendors respond to RFPs through the site, so the museum can review responses and the site can count responses per listing. Messages to vendors also go through the site.

Contact names, email addresses, phone numbers, and response instructions are shown only to people who are signed in. Use them only to respond to or discuss the listing or profile they came from. Don't use them for unrelated marketing.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a non-exclusive license to host, display, and send it as needed to run the site, including in alerts to people who asked for them.

You confirm that you have the right to post it, including any images, and that it follows the Posting policy.

Vendor profiles

Profile details are written by the vendor. They are self-reported unless we say we verified a specific item and describe the check we did. We don't show star ratings.

Don't claim a credential, membership, endorsement, or project that isn't true.

Plans and paid placement

Posting an RFP, browsing, saving listings, and responding to RFPs are free. The Plus and Featured plans on the pricing page are proposals. They can't be bought yet, and their prices and limits may change. If billing opens, the price and terms will be shown before anything is charged.

These rules apply now and to any paid plan:

  • Paid placement is limited to visibility in the vendor directory.
  • Paid placement is always labeled.
  • No plan changes who can see or respond to an RFP, or the order RFP listings appear in.
  • No plan gets earlier access to an RFP. Alerts go out when a listing is published.

Acceptable use

Follow the Posting policy. Also, don't:

  • collect personal information from the site in bulk;
  • impersonate another person or organization;
  • upload files that contain malware or that you don't have the right to share;
  • try to get around the sign-in requirement, review step, or any other safeguard.

Removing content and closing accounts

We may hide or remove content, or suspend or close an account, when these terms or the Posting policy are broken. To report content, use the takedown process in the Posting policy. If you think we got a decision wrong, email [email protected] and we will look again.

You can close your account at any time by emailing [email protected].

No guarantees

The site is provided as is and as available. We don't promise that a listing will get responses, that a vendor will win work, that anything on the site is accurate, or that the site will always be available.

Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Museum Vendors is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for disputes between museums and vendors. Our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it, which is nothing on a free account. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If a change is material, we will tell signed-in users by email or on the site before it takes effect.
